The new Pepsi adverts starring Kendall Jenner which has received lots of criticism from viewers calling it “tone-deaf” for connecting the Black Lives Matter movement has seen the Company respond to the backlash surrounding its new ad.
“This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey,” the company said, according to People.
In a statement released to Teen Vogue Tuesday, hours after the release of the commercial, which has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, Pepsi argued that the ad showcases a moment of unity.
According to an official spokesperson, “The creative showcases a moment of unity, and a point where multiple storylines converge in the final advert. It depicts various groups of people embracing a spontaneous moment, and showcasing Pepsi’s brand rallying cry to ‘Live For Now,’ in an exploration of what that truly means to live life unbounded, unfiltered and uninhibited.”

‘The Kenall Jenner’s Ad’
The Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi ad attracted strong criticism for co-opting the Black Lives Matter protests for profits.
The campaign video which went viral also sees Jenner walk through a protest before making a peace offering to a policeman with the natural olive branch of a can of Pepsi.
From the image you would recall the powerful photo of Leshia Evans standing serenely yet defiantly in front of riot police at a Black Lives Matter protest before being arrested.
However, instead of arresting Jenner or fire pepper spray, the policeman turns to his colleagues, smiles and opens the can. The crowds cheer, apparently in awe of the model’s wildly brave act. A woman wearing a hijab hugs her friends in joy as she captures the moment on camera.
