Canadian-based multinational music rights company Ole sealed partnership contract with Bell Media in what has been described as a multi-million dollar contract.

The contract has been described as an exclusive music publishing and administration partnership for Bell Media’s extensive in-house music catalogue.

The multi-year deal will increase revenue generated from Bell Media’s audio-visual collection of more than 12,000 tracks, including “The Hockey Theme”, CTV News themes, compositions and an expansive roster of original programs.

“With our extensive music catalogue, this is a great opportunity for us to grow its use internationally and capture new revenue streams,” said Tyson Parker, Head of Artist and Music Industry Relations, Bell Media.

Chairman for Ole, Robert Ott said: “Ole is very pleased to be working with Bell Media and its world-class content production teams (and) I look forward to adding value to what this talented team is creating.”

As the deal is successfully sealed, Ole announced it concluded a $20-million in acquisitions in the first quarter of 2017.


‘Brief history about the duo’

Ole is a Canadian-based international rights management company with offices in Toronto, Nashville, New York, Los Angeles and London. Since launching in 2004, the company has invested US$500M in music IP investments. The ole catalogue includes 55,000 songs, 60,000 hours of TV and film music and 750,000 production music tracks.

The firm also controls substantial A/V music and secondary rights, a label services division that include Anthem Entertainment Group and red dot, and ole Digital with over 12 billion views across publishing, masters and A/V platforms.

Bell Media owns 30 local television stations, 30 specialty channels and four pay-TV services. Bell Media is also Canada’s largest radio broadcaster, with 215 music channels and 105 radio stations in 54 markets that are part of the iHeartRadio brand and streaming service.Bell Media also owns Astral Out of Home, operates 200 websites and produces live theatrical shows.
